“I’m just really blessed to have the people that I have in my life,” said Ben Shelton after securing his maiden ATP Masters 1,000 title with a victory against Karen Khachanov. Consider it an endearing message for the people he loves and who always have his back — his close ones, including his family, as well as someone special who entered his life thanks to a mere TikTok trend: none other than Shelton’s girlfriend, Trinity Rodman.

And perhaps the American tennis star was right after all to include the USWNT forward in his “loved ones” moment, especially considering she has always managed to make time to support her boyfriend, game in and game out. Interestingly, just like the recently concluded 2025 Wimbledon, the Cincinnati Open was no exception.

Despite a busy NWSL schedule, Rodman literally managed to carve out some time for his boyfriend to make a “Supportive sidelines” appearance. The 22-year-old was spotted in the stands, courtesy of a snap shared by @CincyTennis on X, relishing Shelton’s blistering shots, which helped the 2024 Houston champion open his Cincinnati Open campaign on a winning note.

Not to mention, her presence proved favorable as within the first-round clash with Camilo Ugo Carabelli, Shelton started strong, taking the opening set 6-3. Sadly, the second set saw things take a turn for the worse as Carabelli, ranked 47th in the world, injured his knee on the very first point of the fourth game after an awkward approach to the net.

Despite taking a medical timeout, the Argentine struggled to move freely and was ultimately forced to withdraw with Shelton leading 3-1. Fresh off securing the third ATP title of his career in Toronto just days ago, Ben Shelton now gears up for a second-round clash with Spain’s Roberto Bautista Agut — a match where Rodman is certainly expected to make an appearance.

Honestly, the 2024 Paris Olympian is making quite an effort in showcasing her rallying support for her beloved boyfriend. To recall, Trinity Rodman herself made it quite evident how hardly she gets tennis as a sport, even resorting to the help of ardent fans. “I’ve asked Ben some of these questions, and his explanations still don’t really give me any clarity,” remarked the Spirit forward in a vocal TikTok confession.

Yet, you can see the kind of dedication the USA international is showing just to be the support system Ben Shelton is surely grateful for — not only sitting courtside, sometimes looking a bit blank while trying to figure out the dynamics of the game, but also making a domestic sacrifice to be there.

Is Ben Shelton's success more about skill or the love and support from Trinity Rodman?

Trinity Rodman really needed a break after all!

The Newport Beach native recently stole the spotlight by making an emphatic comeback from her lengthy injury recovery break. Having last seen action on April 12 before flying to London to engage in vigorous individual training sessions, the USWNT forward came off the bench to score the winning goal in last week’s 2-1 victory over the Portland Thorns. Mind you, the goal itself was a beauty.

In fact, after scoring, the USWNT star couldn’t hold back her tears, and even during the post-match interview, she struggled to control her emotions. “Yeah, I just think… damn. Holy cow… That was just the hardest thing I had to go through, with injury and everything,” she said, admitting she couldn’t fully put into words the joy of scoring goals and playing again.

Then again, the recent NWSL week saw her fail to deliver against Gotham FC. Having been introduced once more as a substitute around the hour mark, the forward gave her best to collaborate with her teammates, only to settle for a stalemate — bringing them to third place with a tally of just 27 points.

No wonder the moment after Saturday’s game, Trinity Rodman flew to Cincinnati and support her boyfriend Ben Shelton as it surely must have given her a chance to rejuvenate before returning to Washington and prepare for the upcoming challenges.
