Ric Flair, a WWE and wrestling icon, is considered by many to be one of the best professional wrestlers in history. He is famous for holding the record for the most world title reigns, which he shares with John Cena. Flair recently appeared on Joe Rogan’s podcast and spoke about his time in North Korea, and what he faced there. However, Rogan would be intrigued by Flair’s decision of visiting the closed-off country, and what motivated him.
In 1995, The Nature Boy Ric Flair visited North Korea to promote goodwill and fought Japanese legend, Antonio Inoki. During the podcast, Joe Rogan was shocked by Flair’s decision of visiting North Korea. Rogan asked, “How’d they talk you in doing that? “
He claimed that a promoter in WCW brought in the opportunity and wanted a performer for the event. He claimed that the promoter had hyped up the event to be extremely famous and make Flair even more popular.
He later faced trouble from the authority when they compelled him to say a speech, hailing North Korea. However, Flair did not do so, and instead, made another speech on its borderlines.
The Nature Boy also broke a record and became one of the first American pro wrestlers to enter North Korea and fight a match there. Flair had a tough-fought battle against Japanese wrestling legend, Antonio Inoki.
