Despite Not Competing at Full Strength, Sunisa Lee Gives Her 1.6 Million Fans a Surprise From National Championship

The 2023 US Championships is a stepping stone for Sunisa Lee's ultimate goal of returning to next year's Paris Games. But she could not perform at full strength because her body would not permit her. The Tokyo 2020 all-around champion has been dealing with kidney-related health issues since February. Therefore, she has made the painful decision to compete in just two events. However, the Olympic bronze medalist added a little treat for fans during podium training.

Suni Lee keeps schedule light

Suni Lee limited herself to only two events in the U.S. Classic, just to qualify for nationals with a score of 14.500 on beam and a 13.500 on vault. Coming to U.S. Championships, it is no different.

The 20-year-old gymnast headlines an impressive list of 147 gymnasts participating for the Xfinity U.S Gymnastics Championships. But will only be competing in balance beam and vault. No, do not be disappointed yet because there's also a surprise on bars.
