Montero's path to stardom began in Winnemucca, Nevada. He got his PRCA card in 2011 and worked his way up. In 2019, he reached the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, finishing 10th globally with $170,296 in earnings. His highlight was a record-breaking 90.5-point ride on Prairie Rose in Round 2.
