When a parent witnesses their child in trouble, an instinctual switch flips. It's an unwavering drive to protect, rescue, and put their own life on the line if necessary. A former NFL star recently shared his raw emotions, revealing a selfless act that disregarded consequences and risked it all.

The feeling NFL star has for his heroic deed to save his son and niece

Former NFL running back star Peyton Hillis shared his feelings while recalling the incident and said it was “100% a miracle” that everyone survived when he saved his son and niece from drowning but from rip current off Florida coast in January.

Peyton Hillis after the rescue ended up hospitalized himself!

Hillis rushed to save the kids who were getting sucked into a powerful rip current in the ocean as he couldn't see any lifeguards around. While he was in water he had some tough calls to make, he almost had a near-death experience himself as he fainted and had to be rushed to the hospital!

Hilli's had to make a difficult to choice during the rescue mission!

Hillis recalled and said, "I think the scariest point was when I'm swimming to my son and I have to pass by him because my niece is in more danger. I knew that I had to pass him up to get to Camille first. Because, you know, if I didn't then there's no way she would've made it."
