Kyle Petty announces the new Jeff Gordon in Hendrick Motorsports' most dismal season in 4 years.
NASCAR
Kyle Petty, former racing legend, recently declared William Byron as the new Jeff Gordon in Hendrick Motorsports' saddest season in 4 years.
William Byron's Victory
Last weekend's 'Go Bowling at the Glen' race saw 25-year-old William Byron, driver of the No. 24 Chevrolet Camaro for Hendrick Motorsports, in victory lane. The win marked his fifth pole finish of the season and has left the racing community in disbelief over the dominance that he has displayed.
Kyle Petty's Admiration
Speaking on NBC’s Motor Mouths show, Kyle expressed his views on the spectacular season that the young driver was having. He acknowledged this achievement and heaped praise on the driver. Kyle spoke about how they’d anticipated the current season to have 36 different winners after seeing the competitiveness from last year.
Kyle was extremely fair in expressing his opinion that William was having a ‘Jeff Gordon’ or ‘Kevin Harvick’ type of season with all the wins that he was accumulating. He also did not fail to tip his hat to one other person who was equally responsible for William’s performances: Ruby Fugle, crew chief of the No. 24 Camaro for Hendrick Motorsports .
