Joey Logano Suggests Joe Gibbs Wouldn’t Have Fired Him if He Had “Enough God-Given Talent”
NASCAR
Former JGR driver, Joey Logano, has changed his fortune after signing with Team Penske, as he won two NASCAR Cup Series Championships.
Meanwhile, he recently recalls getting fired from Joe Gibbs Racing, as he feels he did not have a God-given talent back then.
Logano’s failed JGR stint
In 2008, JGR announced the signing of Logano. Next year, all the spotlight was on him, as he showed a lot of promise. However, he failed pretty badly in the following seasons, as he got fired by Joe Gibbs in 2012. Matt Kenseth then took his place at JGR.
Logano’s redemption
After getting fired from JGR in 2012, he signed with Team Penske. In the 2013 season, he showed his talent to everyone, as he finished the season strong. Later, in 2018, he won his first Cup Series Championship with Team Penske. Then, in 2022, he once again achieved success, as he won his second championship.
In a recent interview with Kenny Wallace, Logano said, “I Feel like I have to work harder than other drivers to be good just to be competitive right I mean I leave the picture behind me this one here when I drove to #20 car right if I had enough god-given Talent, I wouldn’t have got fired from that job… I wasn’t ready because I wasn’t good enough right like if I was that special I would have just figured.”
