With just 3 races remaining till the round of 16 begins, every team in NASCAR is putting out their best. However, the struggle stands out for Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin’s 23XI Racing, as the pit crew of this team has been consistently pulling their drivers down.
Tyler Reddick's Unfortunate Pit Stop
Tyler Reddick was leading the lap when the officials called off the race due to rain on Sunday. However, with just 43 laps to go, Reddick decided to make a pit stop before taking off at full speed. But things took an unexpected turn when his right rear wheel got loose right after the stop, and he had to come back to the pit road for a repair.
Denny Hamlin's Response
In a recent tweet by NASCAR on NBC, NASCAR fans saw a justifiably furious Reddick cursing his pit crew using strong language. Later, Michael Jordan’s partner, Denny Hamlin, spoke about this and agreed that it was very normal for Reddick to have behaved that way. In one of his podcasts, Hamlin said in an apologetic tone, “Tyler Reddick has absolutely 100% right to be as angry and frustrated as he is."
Hamlin acknowledged that Reddick deserved a better outcome, but he emphasized that his team is constantly striving to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. In the same podcast, The JGR racer explained that the team is not yet where they want to be in the Cup Series. They have cars that are fast enough to win races, but speed alone does not win a race.
