The Unforgiving Playoff Structure
Allmendinger pointed out the harsh reality of the Cup Series races. He said, "A driver could be finishing in the top 5 or top 10 consecutively and yet fail to make it into the playoffs based on points," unveiling the adverse effect on a driver's future, including their relationships with sponsors.
The Struggles of Kaulig Racing
The 17x Xfinity Series winner candidly discussed the challenges faced by his team, Kaulig Racing. He confessed that they were "slightly knocked back to Earth" and explained, "When 40 cars... trying to ace the race, it becomes extremely difficult for a driver to get a huge room to dominate his competitors."
Allmendinger acknowledged the superiority of Joe Gibbs Racing. He stated, "They can make a couple of mistakes and they’d still have a shot to win the race." Despite these challenges, Allmendinger remains hopeful for Kaulig Racing's future.
