“Aw… this was my first kiss,” the world no. 4 golfer told in an interview. “Best kiss too.” Korda couldn’t handle her smile after seeing the picture of her kissing her first trophy as a professional.
In 2018, at the Swinging Skirts LPGA Taiwan Championship, Nelly Korda won her first-ever championship on the LPGA Tour. Notably, she turned pro in 2016 and has earned her ticket to play on the Tour since 2017. However, she couldn’t win a title until next year.
“It’s nerve-racking…” Korda explained how she felt after winning the first title on the Tour in the exclusive segment with Golfing World YouTube channel. “Like, you’re going through all your emotions,” she added. “I cried after.”
“Her mascara was everywhere,” N. Korda reminisced about one of the best moments in her life. Interestingly, whenever the 24-year-old has won on the Tour, she has made sure to upload a picture of her kissing the trophy on her Instagram.
After winning the Swinging Skirts LPGA Taiwan Championship in 2018, it took Nelly almost six months to win another title. She won it at the 2019 ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open. Ever since then, she has won another five of them, including the 2021 Women’s PGA Championship.
The youngest of the Korda sisters has also won the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics. Notably, she is the first player, man or woman, to win a major and Olympic gold in the same year.
