Formula 1 is all about technology at its peak. It has always been a testing platform for many modern technologies that eventually make their way into road cars.
So let’s take a look at some of the road cars which were inspired by F1 technology.
The Mercedes-AMG Project ONE is the closest one can get to a road-legal F1 car. It features the exact turbocharged 1.6L V-6 as Lewis Hamilton’s car. With electric motors on all wheels, this supercar produces a total output of 1000hp.
This car was named after the three-time world champion, Ayrton Senna. This hypercar is built with all of its components straight from the F1 factory. With 825hp from its turbocharged V8 engine, the Senna GTR can also generate a ridiculous 1,000kg of downforce.
This extreme hypercar is a creation of the Red Bull Racing and Aston Martin team. It is the brainchild of the Milton-Keynes-based team’s designer Adrian Newey. It features a naturally aspirated V12 engine and a KERS battery system.
This limited-edition supercar was fitted with a V12 engine (not F1-related) but had F1’s hybrid KERS system and a carbon fiber chassis from Rory Byrne, the man behind Ferrari’s immense success from 1996 to 2006.
Although this car does not have any F1-derived technologies like the other cars, but the one major reason it made it to the list is that it was specially made for Lewis Hamilton. This hypercar has a top speed of 225 MPH and has an AMG 7.3L V12 engine.
