One of the youngest and most talented drivers in F1 right now is Lando Norris. Although he is currently enduring a pretty terrible season, he certainly has no time for his haters or online trolls. In the past, he had talked about his then-girlfriend Luisinha Oliveira getting harassed on social media. Now, he is a changed man and he has a certain message for his haters.
In an interview in 2022, Norris said, “I get death threats every now and then. Most people do. Not enough gets done, and it is tough. If I had seen the threats when I started in 2019, it would have had more effect, but now I understand when you have to laugh–not laugh at a death threat–but laugh at the silly comments people come up with and things they try to create to get attention.”
Before breaking up with Luisinha Oliveira, Norris stood by her against online trolls. He said, “Whether it’s about my personal life, me and my girlfriend, especially the amount of hate pages dedicated to Luisinha now. It is pretty horrific. They are on Instagram and Twitter, they are the main ones. Having a normal life to all of a sudden having lots of followers, she has to be more careful of what she says and does.”
In the latest episode of the ‘F1: Beyond the Grid’ podcast, Norris said, “Understand what people are saying but at the same time when you know someone has no idea about something or just says it simply ’cause they are idiots or they got nothing else to do… Writing bad stuff, trying to find bad things, make bad situations – This makes absolutely no sense to me. I’ve just learned to laugh and make fun of the bad things.”
