Sha’Carri Richardson traveled to Eugene for her third race of the season, expecting a turnaround. However, before she could even set foot in the plane, her cards had difficulties written all over them. Back on July 27, the sprinter and her boyfriend, Christian Coleman, got into a verbal fight as they made their way past the Seattle–Tacoma International Airport security. The situation escalated when Richardson shoved Coleman despite his trying to move away.
Coleman refused to help the police and declined to be a victim and press charges. With the arresting policeman and the video footage as enough proof, however, Richardson was detained overnight for fourth‑degree domestic violence. She was released the next afternoon from the SCORE jail in Des Moines, Washington. And soon, the two were again focused on their qualifying ticket to Tokyo. But while Richardson didn’t speak on the incident, Coleman did.

“I don’t feel like she should have been arrested. I mean, people have discussions and emotions and stuff like that. She has things that she needs to work on for herself, of course. So do I, so do you, so does everybody… She’s a human being and a great person. To me, she’s the best female athlete in the world. I see it every day,” Coleman opened up on Sunday. Now, Richardson has finally given some updates, or the lack thereof.

In a now-deleted Instagram carousel, the track and field athlete seemed to be giving hints about her thoughts today. The first slide was a photo of her sitting on the track, looking down. Probably, the shot was taken after her fourth-place finish in the 200m heats at the USATF Championships. In another picture, she showed her bags, probably while returning home. She did have a message for her fans with the last slide quoting, “In due time… that’s all I gotta say.”
Sha’Carri Richardson ran a season-best 11.07 in her opening 100m heat but withdrew from further rounds of the event, backed by her automatic spot as the defending world champion. She then ran in the 200m event. But finishing fourth with 22.56s, she could not get herself into that event at Tokyo. But since her arrest, the sprinter had only revealed her decision to “Just wanting to come out here and, like I said, just be a competitor.”

Amidst all the acceleration that has been going on in her life, fans have not received a proper answer. Sha’Carri Richardson has chosen to remain silent. And even the recent post was deleted from her feed. Since then, only Coleman has spoken up about it, as he also clarified how the incident did not have any effect on his performance.
The 60m world record holder participated in both the 100m and 200m events at the USATF Championships. But he did not secure a spot for the upcoming world championships. He posted a season-best time of 9.86 seconds in the 100 meters, finishing fifth, and ran a season-best 20.02 seconds in the 200 meters, going sixth. He did not have a bye for any event and now looks forward to making a turnaround at whatever next event he chooses to enter. What do you think?
