“That’s Taylor Swift, you idiot,” Maureen Maguire once reminded her long-term partner, Ed Kelce, during an early interaction at Travis Kelce’s house. The TE’s family and friends had gathered at his place to catch a shuttle that would take them all together to a Chiefs game. Swift and Kelce’s relationship was still relatively new. And so, when the pop star entered the house along with a security guard, Papa Kelce knew the “kid” was dating his son, but he still needed Maguire’s help to put a name to the familiar face.

That wasn’t Maguire and Swift’s only interaction. Last year, when attending another Chiefs game, Papa Kelce and Swift struck a pose together, Maguire was quick to joke: “Hey! That’s my boyfriend.” So, the duo switched to a more father-daughter pose. Unfortunately, Maureen Maguire, who was born on November 21, 1950, in the Bronx, New York, died on Saturday, August 2. She was 74.

Ed Kelce confirmed this by sharing her obituary on his Facebook page. The obituary read: “Though she began her life in New York City, Maureen spent the majority of her years in the suburbs of Philadelphia, where she built a warm and vibrant home filled with love, laughter, and family traditions.”

Papa Kelce took to the obituary’s tribute wall with highlights. In the first one, he posted a picture of himself with Maguire and Swift. In the second one, he posted an image of Maguire and wrote, “Maureen and I on the SNL set when Travis hosted.”

Maguire had graduated from Archbishop Prendergast High School (1968) and earned a degree in education from West Chester University in 1972. Later, she became an elementary school teacher, and soon she got married to her late husband, Daniel J. Maguire, Jr. That prompted her to make family her priority, and she went on to have three children: Chuck, Courtney, and Patrick. She also had six grandchildren.

She is also survived by her sister, Loretta O’Brien, and her brother, John Bullock. The obituary mentioned: “Maureen found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved the beach—especially the shore—and had a deep affection for dogs. In recent years, she spent treasured time in Cape May with her family, enjoying peaceful days by the ocean. She also grew an unexpected love for football later in life, sharing many laughs and adventures with her beloved friend Ed Kelce and her loyal dog Butch. Together, they traveled often and attended football games and concerts, and embraced every opportunity to enjoy life to the fullest.”

Her closest circle admired her for her signature style—tennis skirts—though she never really played the sport.

While Maguire’s family has not publicly shared the cause of death, they will hold private services on August 7 in Gladwyne, Pennsylvania. Instead of flowers, they ask for donations to the Penn Heart Transplant Fund.

Ed Kelce was married to Donna for 25 years

The former couple had tied the knot in the late 70s. Five years later, they welcomed Jason. And two more years later, they became a family of four with Travis Kelce’s addition. However, following their sons’ college graduation, Ed and Donna decided to go their separate ways. They were married for 25 years.

But they divorced amicably. In fact, the mother once revealed on the ‘New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce’ podcast: “We’re friends to this day. We get along great…We were like a tag team with you two. We got to do all sorts of fun things. When one of you had to go out of town, the other person would help with the other child. It was perfect.”

She revealed that they had grown apart much earlier, but stayed together because of their children. And earlier this year, Donna also shared that she was “uninterested” in dating. On the other hand, Ed Kelce once again found love in Maureen Maguire. However, the exact timeline of their relationship and how they met is not known.
